I must say that so far, I’m truly enjoying my fasting regiment. It has given me purpose to my day. I feel much more energetic and look forward to my morning hot water with lemon and reading the Book of John.

When I was told my friend Pamela was passing, I was fortunate enough to be with her on her final day. I arrived in the morning and she was sleeping with labored breath. Her time on earth was coming to an end and all I could think of was reading the Bible to her. I opened to John because I feel it’s the book of love. As a Medic, you are taught that your hearing is the last thing that leaves. So I started reading from Chapter One, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 . I’d like to believe that she heard each word and gave her comfort as she left this earth and made her way through heavens gates.

When I started this fast, I was undecided as to what I was going to read. Then I heard about the 40/40 challenge. Read the Book of John in 40 days and walk a mile a day. Hence 40/40. It has been so inspiring and has given me purpose each day. As I finished my walk this morning, I couldn’t help thinking of my friend Pam and wondered how heaven has been treating her? I’m sure she’s doing great! But I do miss you girl. See you when I see you.

“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:3-5
