It has been long overdue but this wandering heart is getting ready to venture back into Gods creation. Every year I meet up with a very dear friend “Salamander” and we explore nature together. There is much we catch up on, life, friends and world issues, we’ll not so much of that.

This year we head to Uinta Wilderness in Utah seeking solitude and majesty that can only be found, as far as I know, in the mountains. Our journey this year will be 100 miles from east to west. This area is somewhat obscure and isolated as very few seek this piece of wonder. Exceptions to that rule: elk, moose, deer and maybe a bear or two. But two legged hikers like yours truly, only 100-200 consider the remoteness of Highline Trail.

Today is packing and repacking, attempting to rid myself of any excess baggage. There are no resupplies along the way so we will be carrying all our needs for the next 9 days. My base weight is around 13-14 pounds but the food I consume has brought me closer to 30 pounds. Needless to say, the first days out will be a bit sluggish.

Tomorrow will be a drive day with Sunday being my first steps on the trail. I’ll be blogging daily however I most likely won’t be able to post anything till I either reach a mountain top or finish the trail.

I’m praying for transformation and Jesus showing me His love beyond measure. This has been a difficult year with the passing of my Mom and watching my Dad’s heart break. In time, God gives us strength to continue on, but there are days that it seems impossible to move forward. Love is the greatest gift of all, yet is causes the most grief! I feel at times, that I am walking out of a fog snd haven’t found the clearing yet. Please Lord, help me see the beauty in this journey, knowing you are with me, showing me the path and leading the way!

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
Isaiah 41:10
Utah sounds wonderful! I head out tomorrow to do just short of 100 miles on the PCT section I WA
